I absolutely love the “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” segment. And not because it’s poking fun at groups. I’d honestly submit some of my group’s previous recordings… because people need to know for recording what is good and what is bad.

Talking to people like Bill Hare and Dave Sperandio has enlightened me about some of their frustrations. Groups come to them ALL THE TIME, often frustrated, because they “don’t sound like (insert awesome group)”. They need to know that stepping it up on all fronts is essential to putting out a stellar, compelling record! What better way to do that than through a fun, smart, and educational Podcast like this?

1: I hope you’ll find the mixing has improved in later episodes. We’re still learning as we go!

2: You weren’t alone in expressing dissatisfaction over that segment. We have, however, received overwhelming support from many of our listeners who really liked it. For now, we’ve chosen to keep the segment, but hopefully make it less mocking and more constructive. In the end, the show is ultimately just an expression of our opinions, and people should feel free to disagree. What we’re really hoping to do is start a dialogue, and by giving your feedback, you’re contributing to that dialogue, so thank you for your opinions. Keep ‘em coming!

OK, I’m a few weeks behind and have just listened to this episode. Love most things about the podcast, but I have two comments:

1: The mixing is a challenge. I love that you’re including song clips, but either they need to be toned down or your voices need to be turned up. And your Explative Remover: PLEASE turn it down!! Those come out of nowhere, and blast my ears out!

2: I was thoroughly turned off by “don’t quit your day job,” to the point of stopping my recommendations of – and nearly unsubscribing to – the podcast altogether. We live in an a cappella community, guys — nobody likes the person in the community who points and laughs at the sincere kid who’s desperately trying, even if that kid isn’t doing as good a job as the football stars or the math geeks. I hope you lose this segment quickly and completely.

All that being said, I’m enjoying the ‘cast, and hope you keep going with it!

Let me begin. Dog Problems. Win. Holy babies that soloist hit it on the spot. I may contact them and force them to arrange and perform for my own listening PLEASURE “If Work Permits.”

Also, Who Are You….Seriously, where did this come from Bubs!? Who the heck are you? I know you’ve been all like in the good stuff, but seriously, you stole my music brain. Stole it and convinced my heart over to be okay with it. Plus, Who Are You, the small part you’ve played, is ON PAR to Sound Of Silence. Which will till the end of time make me freak out in all great and powerful ways.

Mouth Off? I heart you, and I’m stealing you…one of you. SO SOON.

Wow. Gotta agree with Dave on Go Or Go Ahead. I was listening in the car, and almost had to go home and change my pants, because those clips were a total eargasm. It was even better listening in headphones (Where I also got even more of the stereo nature of the Who Are You bridge. (You should tell all your listeners to listen with good headphones.)

And yeah, this is what money was made for (as I wave goodbye to some).

Loving the show, keep it going.
